Elisa Palomino Spring winter 2012 Collection at London Fashion Week 2011

Central St. Martin has a habit of churning out some of the best new designers proving that international fashion stars have roots in the London based College – and its true when it comes to Elisa Palomino. Since graduating from Central St. Martin, the Spanish born designer has worked for some of the most prestigious fashion houses including Moschino, Roberto Cavalli and Christian Dior Haute Couture. For eight years she was the head of studio for John Galliano and most recently the vice-president of design for Diane von Fustenberg. In 2010 Palomino launched her own collection at the New York Fashion Week where the entire collection was bought by Dolce and Gabbana for the opening of the SPIGA 2 Concept store.
The collection was inspired by the El Capricho Garden in Madrid – a space that was originally acquired by the Dukes of Osuna at the end of the 18th century to create an artistic paradise away from the main city and filled it with botanic, sculptural and artistic treasures with three separate gardens.
Elisa Palomino’s stunning clothes are wide exaggerations of the ‘flapper’ style with floral organza’s and weightless transparencies in tiered chiffons and decadent embroideries. There is a heavy dose of Asian aesthetic influences with lots of lace, silk, rich cotton and net used as materials. Metal head accessories were provided by Angel Amor who’s work perfectly fitted the Geisha styled make up and natural look. All in all, this is one designer that is destined for global stardom.
